Tino Taonga Month – October 2026

This October, we are inviting all Salvation Army communities to take part in Tino Taonga Month—a time to intentionally explore God’s heart for children and young people and to celebrate their essential place in our communities. 

Tino Taonga means "precious treasure" - a phrase that captures our belief that the next generations were created to be seen, heard, and included. They are Tino Taonga.  To understand more about Tino Taonga head here!

In 2024, The Salvation Army’s International Children and Youth Department released a Theology of Children and Youth, offering a biblical foundation for us to explore our long-standing belief in the significance of young people. To support your participation, we'll provide a resource pack designed to help your community engage together throughout the month, including: 

• A Church Together resource for celebrating White Sunday as a whole community • Sermon notes for the remaining Sundays in October • A four-week Bible study resource for small groups and individuals 

You'll also be able to engage with weekly devotionals, stories, and practical ideas shared through our social media channels. 

Tino Taonga Month is an invitation to see the next generation through God's eyes. Together, we'll celebrate our tamariki and rangatahi, strengthen relationships across generations, and discover how God is shaping us into communities where every young person has a place, a voice, and a part to play in Gods mission. 

Join us this October as we spend a month learning, reflecting, and growing in our understanding of God’s perspective on children and young people—our Tino Taonga.
