mainly music: Connecting Families Through Music and Play
mainly music is a fun, interactive programme designed for pēpi, young tamariki, and their mātua/parents and carers. It’s a beautiful way to build relationships, support whānau, and create space for mātua to connect. Making it easy for whānau to feel for faith conversations—all through music, movement, and play.
What Happens at mainly music?
Each session includes:
Waiata and movement: Simple, engaging music that helps tamariki develop motor skills and rhythm and connect with their mātua/parents and carers
A thought for the day: Includes a parenting thought or faith-based piece to consider.
Free play: Time for tamariki to explore and interact.
Kai and a hot drink: A relaxed space for mātua to connect and for the team to identify pastoral care needs.
Curriculum is accessed on an app, with content ready to stream. Flexibility is provided along with less preparation to ensure you have more time to focus on building relationships.

Why it works
Builds community: Whānau connect with each other and with your church in a low-pressure, welcoming environment.
Supports development: Music and movement help with early learning and social skills.
Creates faith moments: Waiata and stories introduce Christian values and spark curiosity about faith with mainly music and mainly play.
