Could you support young people in your context to enrol to vote?
Common Grace have just launched a video about election enrolment, that you could use to support young people in your context to enrol to vote.
You may know that anyone 17 or over can enrol, even if they don't turn 18 by this election (they will automatically be added to the roll when they turn 18).
You may also know that for this election, everyone must enrol or update their details by 25 October, before voting starts. If we don't enrol by that date, we won't be able to vote, and if our details are incorrect, our electorate vote may not be counted.
Tens of thousands of young people may miss out on the chance to vote because of these changes. Last election, 450,000 people enrolled or updated their details in the voting period (which we can't do this time), and a high proportion were young people. The changes also affect other marginalised groups.
Common Grace is organising church groups to make sure their neighbours don't miss out on the chance to vote. As Christians we believe that everyone’s voice matters, and that particularly people who are most marginalised should be brought in and included.

This could look like:

Encourage people to check their details at vote.nz
If they're not enrolled, or their address is wrong? Help them fill in a paper form on the spot. Or they can enrol/update online if they've got a driver's license, passport, or Realme account.
Encourage people to remind their mates to enrol/check their details by 25 October.
Common Grace have a toolkit with resources here. If you need lots of enrolment forms, order them in advance from the Electoral Commission (take 10 days to arrive) or print some.
